Have you always dreamed of taking dance classes but now feel like it’s too late?
It’s never too late to learn dance or get back into dance. Taking part in our Adult Dance classes is good for your body as well as your mind. Besides promoting cardiovascular fitness and posture this introductory class provides a welcoming and friendly class for adults aged 18+. The Studio is thrilled to expand its Adult Dance Program to include the following styles: Ballet, Contemporary and Modern. We are also thrilled to offer wellness classes in Pilates and Yoga

- 5:30-6:30 pm (Booty Barre)
- 6:30-7:45 pm (Mixed Level Contemporary)
- 10:30-11:30 am (Pilates)
*We must have a minimum of 3 registered students for the class to remain on our schedule. Should you want to drop in for class please contact us to make sure we have availability in the class. Classes tend to fill up so we recommend you register to reserve your spot.

Acceptable attire includes, but is not limited to: leotards and tights, t-shirts, and/or leggings. Please have your hair pulled away from your face. Ballet Shoes are required for all Ballet Classes.

Meet our Instructors:
Derwin May Jr. (Adult Contemporary) was raised in Jackson, MS where he was introduced to performing arts at a young age. He later pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Dance at Belhaven University studying classical ballet and contemporary where he received the Daniel award for Outstanding Achievement. During his time at Belhaven he performed several guest artist works from choreographers such as: Ryan Corriston of Doug Varone and Dancers, Vincent Hardy of Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Bobby Wesner of Neos Dance Theatre. He also performed several historical works such as: ‘Songs of the Disinherited’ by Donald McKayle and ‘Negro Spirituals’ by Helen Tamiris. During his time at Belhaven he traveled to workshops and conventions where he received hiphop training by well acclaimed choreographers such as: Sean Bankhead, Ki Ki Ely, and Jungle Boogie. Derwin has used his training to offer the first adult level pre-professional and professional hiphop lessons at Epic Dance and Fitness Studio in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Derwin has also used his performing arts education to choreograph works for various social events, ministry, and outreach programs: such as the Young, Gifted, and Empowered Gala, Women Rock Awards, Autism Awareness Gala, and Shining Light Ministries. Derwin recently traveled to Malawi, Africa in Summer 2017 with Kinetic Etchings Dance Project to teach ballet and perform with the African Bible College and Salama Africa Dance group. He is currently in his first season with Marigny Opera Ballet and Artivism Dance Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana and continues to grow and use his experiences as his inspiration in his teachings, on stage, and within his choreography.
Elle C. Jones (Adult Modern) is a choreographer, dancer, and teacher originally from State College, PA where she received her pre-professional training at the Arts Conservatory of Central PA. She continued her dance studies at University where she was selected to dance in original works by Ryan Corriston of Doug Varone and Dancers, as well as Stephanie Miracle and Mark Wayne. In 2015, Elle received her BFA in choreography from Belhaven University where she was presented with The Bezalel Award for outstanding artistic achievement. Continuing her artistic career, Elle began presenting her own choreography at various Fringe Festivals, and was selected to be a choreographer for the National Choreography Intensive at Florida State University. She then began dancing and choreographing with a local professional company, Front Porch Dance. Since transplanting to New Orleans in 2016, Elle has been a teaching artist with the local nonprofit company Upturn Arts, among other local dance studios and organizations. She is now working with Artivism Dance Theatre, as a dancer, choreographer, and rehearsal director. Elle is also a company member of Melange Dance Company where she performs principle and featured roles. In August 2018, She became the director of a children’s dance company at the River Ridge School of Music and Dance. Among these endeavors, Elle continues to mount her own choreographic works, and will be presenting them at Cafe Istanbul, and The Art Klub in January of 2019.
Sarah Noelle Prescott (Adult Ballet) is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher who believes in the intrinsic value of art and the incalculable importance of dance. Prescott achieved a BFA in dance performance and choreography from Belhaven University in 2017 where she graduated with honors and received the Bezalel Award for outstanding artistic achievement. In addition to her work as a performer, Prescott has choreographed numerous original works independently for various showcases, concerts, and festivals including the American College Dance Association Regional Gala Concert, the Mississippi Museum of Art gallery opening of When Modern was Contemporary, The Mississippi Lights Festival, and Artivism Dance Theatre’s MOVEment for Change. Prescott is a former dancer and choreographer for Kinetic Etchings Dance Project with whom she traveled to Malawi, Africa to perform, teach, and engage in cultural dance exchanges. Upon moving to New Orleans, Prescott joined the Marigny Opera Ballet for their 2017-2018 season and is continuing to pursue artistic opportunities to create, share, and inspire dance which challenges and stimulated minds, hearts, and imagination.
