What does the Nutcracker Tea benefit?
THE NOLA DANCE PROJECT is a pre-professional youth dance company that provides an opportunity and a safe space for its performers and choreographers to develop their personal creative process. Our mission is to INSPIRE CREATIVITY by providing dancers, instructors, choreographers, etc. with a place to work together and create works of art. We BEGIN CONVERSATIONS with our audiences by performing around the community and allowing the performer and spectator to meet and talk. We are committed to EDUCATING AND ENHANCING the local dance community by hosting world renowned teachers, choreographers, and dancers to conduct master classes, lectures, and demonstrations which our open to the community. The Nutcracker Tea is in its fifth year and is a NOLA Dance Project major fundraiser. Proceeds support performances, master classes and other activities and events held in our community. Your attendance at the Nutcracker Tea helps grow the arts in Greater New Orleans Area.
What should we expect at the Nutcracker Tea?
Our Nutcracker Tea is a 2 hour holiday event that offers families with children of all ages a chance to interact with the character from the ballet, but all learn about their costumes, shoes. They will also enjoy crafts, collect autographs, have a balloon created by the amazing Balloonatics of Baton Rouge artists as well as a visit from Santa.
Are there any COVID-19 requirements?
I’d like to buy tickets. When do they go on sale?
Tickets are now on sale. Seating is limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. We recommend that you purchase as soon as possible. The Nutcracker Tea have generally sold out in the past. Click here to be redirected to our ticketing website.
Would my son and husband enjoy the event?
Absolutely, it’s a family-friendly event enjoyed by all.
How many seats are at a table?
Due to COVID-19 restrictions we can seat 8 if they are from the same household and 6 if they are from different household.
If I buy a table can I upgrade my ticket to include Boozie Bells for the adults?
Yes. You will have the opportunity to upgrade your tickets at the tea. Our volunteers will give you coupons at check-in for the adults at your table to redeem for $10 at our Nutcracker Shoppe.
I’d like to be sure to sit with my friends. How do I make that happen?
We suggest you order all the seats at one time and coordinate with your friends and family. If you have an order larger than 8 we will guarantee that your remaining order is seated at the table next to you so that you all can enjoy the tea together
How should we dress?
It is a party, so come dressed for the holidays. You will see a little bit of everything from dressy pants outfits to little girls decked out in velvet and taffeta.
May I bring my camera?
Of course, there is plenty of opportunity to get pictures with the dancers – as they stroll among the guests during the tea party – and we have multiple “photo op” areas with dancers too
Will there be a performance at the tea?
Unfortunately, due the COVID-19 restrictions placed upon our venue and for the safety of our guests, dancers, and venue staff our dancers will not be performing during our tea.
Not to worry, this year we have planned and exclusive live performance for our tea guests on Sunday, December 20th at Rivertown Theatre for the Performing Arts. Your invitation to the performance is included with the purchase of your tea tickets.
Who dances in the show?
Dancers are students at The Studio School of Dance and range in age from 6-38. Principal dancers are members of NOLA Dance Project, the official company of The Studio School of Dance. The dancers audition for their roles and practice for months prior to the performances. Many of the dancers train five or six days a week and perform at events throughout the year. What time is the live performance?
There will be three live performances on Sunday, December 20th. The times are listed below.
How can I select the time for the live performance?
The theatre has limited seating due to Covid-19 restrictions and showtimes will fill to limited capacity on a first come, first purchased basis. Please make sure to follow prompts to select your preferable showtime. We cannot guarantee preferred showtime. You will receive a confirmation email with your show time between 24-48 hours after your order is processed.
We can’t come to the tea but would love to see the live performance. Can I buy tickets just to the show?
Tickets to the performance are not sold separately and are exclusively for our Nutcracker Tea Guests.
We recommend that you purchase tickets to the tea and contact us via email email@example.com and inform us that you will only be attending the live performance. We will make sure that your invitation/tickets to the live performance are reserved in your name.
