Rules & Policies

TUITION: Tuition must be paid in advance. All semester payments must be made within the first week of the semester. Class Cards must be purchased prior to the start of class (Only for Mommy & Me /Adult Ballet can purchase cards). There are no refunds. There is a $40.00 registration fee for all new students which includes a studio leotard. Tuition is divided into 9 months (September-May) and is due on or before the fifth of each month.  Cash/ Checks/ Credit Card (Visa, Master Card, Discover) are accepted.  We ask that all families enrolled at The Studio School of Dance provide a credit card to be kept on file.

The following are the payment options:

  • Plan A: Automatic credit card payment on the fifth of each month.
  • Plan B: Tuition done in two payments (Check, cash, or credit card).
    • Payment 1: Covers classes through December 
    • Payment 2: Covers classes through June

10% sibling discount offered

A late payment penalty of $25 will apply to any account when tuition payments are received after the 5th of each month

CLASS PLACEMENT: Class level is determined by the instructor and is based on an individual assessment when the student takes a trial class. The ages provided below are simply for reference and don’t not determine class placement.  Students in Ballet I or higher are required to  attend  a minimum of 2 hours of ballet class.  Students that are placed in beginners Pointe are required to take a minimum of 2.5 hours of ballet technique class in addition to the Pointe class.  Students registering for Contemporary Class  must also take a minimum of 2 hours of ballet technique.

MISSED CLASSES: Students may make up missed classes during the same month in which they are missed. If a student knows he or she will miss a class (i.e. school holiday closing), we encourage him or her to make up the class prior to its occurrence. Ask the teacher which class is an appropriate make-up class. Missed classes and/or school holiday closings are non- refundable. 

SHOES: Dance shoes are NOT street shoes and should NEVER be worn outside of the studio. We recommend that a professional fit our students for their shoes and have their shoes checked by their teacher before being worn. Please write your child’s name on the inside of his or her shoes, as many shoes look alike.

EN POINTE CAUTIONStudents are not placed on point until our instructors are sure their training has progressed to the appropriate level to avoid injury. Young children should never be allowed to have pointe shoes as playthings.

HAIR: Hair must be up, away from the face and neat at all times in a bun.

Attire: Ballet students are to wear a leotard and pink tights.  No skirts, glitter , tutus are permitted for class. We ask that you please purchase your uniform either through The Studio School of Dance, Discount Dance Supply(  Teacher ID 78920)  or at Ennie’s Dancewear.

The following is acceptable:

  • Mommy & Me– Kids- should come in clothes they can move freely in or they can wear leotard and tights. Moms/Dads should come in workout clothes
  • Pre-Ballet/Ballet I–  Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes
  • Ballet II– Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes
  • Ballet III/IV– Students can wear any color leotard and pink tights.

Under no circumstances are shorts, bathing suits,  T-shirts, sweatshirts, school uniforms or street shoes appropriate attire for any dance class. Everyone must wear street shoes as well as something over his or her leotard and tights when coming and going from the studio. Studio personnel are not responsible for belongings left in the studio.

DROP OFF /PICK UP TIMES:  All Students are to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of class. This will ensure classes start on time. Students are to remain inside the studio until a parent or guardian arrives to pick them up. No child will be permitted to leave the studio without a parent or guardian. To avoid any upset, please call the studio if you are going to be late.

PARKING:  The Studio shares the parking lot with several other businesses. The landlord has asked that we limit our parking to 3 cars in the lot Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm. After 5pm the entire parking lot is available to us.  There are several locations for alternative parking if you wish to stay and watch your child take class. The Studio asks that you respect the request from our landlord.

HOLIDAYS: All holidays are posted in advance. Please be aware of notices in and around the studio as well as those sent home via email or note. Call to verify any uncertainties especially if you or your child has missed a few classes. Please make-up any classes cancelled due to holidays during the same month in which they are missed. Missed classes due to holiday closings are non- refundable.

**BEHAVIOR: Children are expected to participate during classes in a respectful and appropriate manner. If, for any reason, your child does not comply with this, a parent will be notified and asked to speak with the child about the problem. Upon any further problems, we reserve the right to refuse service to the child with no refund of tuition or registration. Bullying a child at anytime is not acceptable and will not per tolerated. The Studio School of Dance is meant to be a place for dancers and instructors to able to fully express themselves without any judgement or ridicule.  Child doing the bullying will be asked to leave the class and could potentially be ask the leave The Studio School of Dance entirely.
