Class Description

Mommy and Me- With Mommy (or Daddy) close by, students will learn the basics of dance, while engaging in hands-on movement activities essential to proper development in coordination, recognizing music and rhythms, counting and timing, and self-confidence. Students learn to stretch and dance through the use of exciting props such as dance scarves, hula hoops and ribbon sticks. This class does not perform in our Spring Gala but students will have a chance to perform during our in-studio performance.

Creative Movement- The children are introduced to the basic concepts of rhythm and movement using creative games that expand their individual creativity. They will learn special awareness, listening skills, group socialization and structure. They will strengthen their bodies and learn coordination to ready themselves for the next level in dance. Our goal is to make sure we are building the love of dance in each child, nurturing their natural creativity in a fun and loving atmosphere. Our goal is to awaken interest, enthusiasm, and self-confidence through dance.

Pre-Ballet (Ages 3-4)- Playing games and using props are fun and energizing ways for young children to learn movement basics.   The introduction of basic Ballet vocabulary provides structure, improves coordination, and challenges the memory.  Small classes and one on one attention allow even the youngest dancers to feel comfortable in the classroom environment.

Ballet (Ages 4-5)- Ballet 4-5 introduces dancers to the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. Each class focuses on proper posture, body positions, and alignment while also building on ballet vocabulary.  Class structure and discipline are also emphasized, and musicality and creativity are explored through improvisation.  Watch your child’s confidence and appreciation for the art form grows as they masters new skills and makes new friends.
